How to create transitions for lead states
When a lead record moves from one state to another, it's known as a state transition. For example, a lead can transition from a New
state to a 1st meeting scheduled
state. Define the entry and exit points of each one of your lead states.
Dependencies
- The states to transition from and to must exist. See How to create lead states.
- Call dispositions depend on state transitions.
How to
3-tasks process
Creating a state has 3 steps: adding the state, adding tags to it, and adding transitions. This page shows you how to do the third step. For the first two steps, see Dependencies.
- Log in to the Vymo web app and click the gear icon :octicons-gear-16: in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- In the Module Settings section, click the module for which the state transitions are to be defined.
- Click Lead Lifecycle.
- Go to the state for which to define the transitions, and click Add Transition.
- Specify the state to transition from and to. Remember that the first state of a lead, which, by default, is the
New
state, won't have a From state. If a state that you need isn't displayed as an option in the From or To boxes, create that state first. - If you're done creating all transitions for that state, click Save. If you must add a few more transitions, click Save and Add.
- Click Save near the top right to save all of these configuration options.
Results
The state is created. You're now ready to configure lead state fields.

How to add states, tags, and transitions:
Concepts
- What are states?
- Fields are attached to states (such as New, Assigned, or Closed). A state is a specific stage in the lifecycle of a lead record. A lead begins its life by being in a
New
state and ends with either aWon
or aLost
state. In this process, the lead can pass through several other states also. For example, when a new lead is assigned to someone, it can move to anAssigned
state, or when someone on your team fixes an appointment with a lead, the record might move to aMeeting scheduled
state.
The following image shows state fields for a leads record.
- Where are states used?
- In workflows. States go into workflows (such as schedule a call, meet and do stuff, or schedule a follow-up). The following diagram shows the default workflow of a new lead record.
